Understanding Chromium(VI)
As ‘The Chromate Experts’, we support companies in the safe handling of carcinogenic chromium(VI) compounds in technical installations.
We examine components, insulation materials and work areas using rapid tests, swab samples, and both stationary and mobile laboratory analysis, whilst personal air sampling and exposure analyses are used to determine inhalation and dermal exposure levels in the workplace.
Our occupational health and safety services include hazard assessments, substitution assessments, risk management plans, operating instructions, training sessions and exposure registers.
The modular “Operator Check 561” systematically assesses the condition of plant, the status of documentation and the necessary protective measures.
Contaminated engines, turbines, hot components and insulation systems are then professionally dismantled, cleaned and decontaminated by the chromate remediation specialists.
Insulation materials containing calcium and alkalis can subsequently be replaced with Kavarmat® high-temperature insulation systems that are free from alkalis and alkaline earth metals.
Areas contaminated with chromate are classified, zoning and access protocols are defined and documented, and work procedures are planned and organised.
The comprehensive service thus extends beyond chromium(VI) analysis and occupational and environmental safety consultancy into the remediation and/or substitution phase, right through to disposal and the final certification of a legally compliant protection regime.
